Centre for Global and Community Engagement - University of Ottawa

CSL Outstanding Achievement Awards

Do you know a professor, a student or a community partner who has made great contributions to improve classroom learning or to improve services provided to communities?

Each academic year, the Community Service Learning (CSL) program highlights the exceptional contributions of one student, one professor and one community partner to the CSL program. We are looking for individuals or organizations committed to making the CSL program a success for all parties involved. A selection committee determines the winners based on pre-determined selection criteria.

Eligibility

You can nominate only one individual (student or professor) or community partner per session (fall and winter) in each academic year.

For more information please visit the CSL Outstanding Achievement Awards webpage.

Alumni

All over the world, uOttawa alumni are engaged in serving others through activities in soup kitchens, shelters, and schools, on boards, committees and more, because members of the uOttawa community are committed to making a positive difference wherever they are. We are inspired by our alumni and their families who give so generously of their time and skills to their local communities. Please send us your stories and experiences of volunteering, wherever they might be.

uOttawa Alumni Association Award for Community Service

Are you a uOttawa graduate currently involved in your community? Are you a Community Partner working with the University of Ottawa who has a uOttawa graduate as a member of your volunteer team? If so, you can recognize his or her involvement through a nomination for the uOttawa Alumni Association Award for Community Service!

Donors

At the Centre for Global and Community Engagement, we believe that to engage our students and promote informed action, we must offer a student experience that goes beyond the classroom and into the community.  It is there that students are able to witness firsthand their ability to shape the future of local, national and international communities by addressing emerging priorities.  The CGCE embodies this vision by matching passion with opportunity through a community/student collaborative approach.

Thanks to the support of our generous donors, corporate partners and foundations, the Centre has grown in its capacity to promote community involvement and to help connect its members—students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees—to local, national and international communities and community partners with a view to creating positive social change.
We wish to acknowledge those who have helped us to achieve so much:

The Centre for Global and Community Engagement has been chosen to participate in Aeroplan’s Charitable Pooling program. Anyone interested in supporting the Centre can donate their unused Aeroplan miles to benefit students participating in upcoming Alternative Student Breaks. This spring and again during the summer months, a number of uOttawa students will participate in community service activities through the Centre. For more information on how to donate your miles please visit our Give page.

Two RONA stores in the Ottawa area, RONA Gloucester and RONA Nepean have pledged to support CGCE by donating a percentage of sales made to uOttawa employees at their stores. By presenting an affiliation card at the commercial sales counter of either of these stores, uOttawa employees will receive a 5% discount on most purchases. Up to 5% of the total value of purchases made through this offer will be donated and used to fund community engagement programs run by the Centre. For more information please visit the employees’ privileges page.

If you have any questions regarding any of these programs please send an email to servingothers@uOttawa.ca.
